Swiss Chocolate has been delighting taste buds for close to two hundred years. Very few countries can claim with complete satisfaction that they can compete with the standard of Swiss Chocolate. Switzerland Chocolates have become the benchmark in the industry for both the quality of their products and innovation in the production process.

The Story of Swiss Chocolate dates back to 1819 when Francois-Louis Cailler opened one of the first mechanical production facilities in Corsier, Switzerland. In the decades to follow, many other Switzerland Chocolate factories began production and contributed their own styles and methods to the manufacturing process.

Throughout these early decades in Swiss Chocolate production, the industry remained mostly domestic. But with the flourishing of the tourist industry in the years between 1890 and 1920, people from all over the world began to experience the quality of Swiss Chocolate. Finally, between 1900 and1918, Swiss Chocolate had truly become an international industry with 75% of the Switzerland Chocolate companies exporting their products. Even though the Swiss Chocolate industry was drastically affected by the protectionism of 1920's and 1930's, it battled through these setbacks and continued to dominate the world chocolate market.

Swiss Chocolate makers have contributed greatly to the production techniques used by manufacturers. One such notable innovation of Swiss Chocolate makers was the creation of milk chocolate by Daniel Peter in 1875. In 1879, Rodolphe Lindt created the first melting chocolate by inventing a conching process. And Charles-Amedee Kohler was the first person to invent a hazelnut chocolate. Switzerland Chocolate innovators have continually expanded and contributed to the techniques and styles of the chocolate industry.

A few brands of Swiss Chocolate stand out as international favorites. One brand of such international renown is Lindt Lindor chocolate. Lindt Lindor Chocolate dates back until 1845 when David Sprungli-Schwarz and his son, Rudolf Sprungli-Ammann began producing a new Italian recipe for chocolate in their confectionary shop. Within a couple of years, Lindt Lindor Chocolate was being consumed voraciously by the Swiss elite, and the father-son business was forced to move to a nearby factory. Today, Lindt Lindor Chocolate is produced and consumed in factories all around the world.

Dolf Teushcer started Teushcer Chocolate more than 70 years ago. Teuscher chocolate is made from the finest and most expensive ingredients, making it one of the most sought after brands of Swiss Chocolate. Like many other brands of Switzerland chocolate, Teushcer Chocolates are now consumed in countries all around the world. But unlike many other brands of Switzerland Chocolate, Teushcer Chocolate continues to be produced by kitchens in Zurich.

Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate has become a household name, recognized and consumed by people from all over the world. Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate began when Anthony R. Sanna left Sicily in 1890 and headed for the United States. Mr. Sanna and his sons soon became dairy experts and were one of the principal suppliers of dry milk to the United States government during WWII. In the 1950's, Mr. Sanna and his sons added cocoa and sugar to their dried milk products and Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate was born. By providing the best Swiss Chocolate in a cheap and accessible method, Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate is now an international favorite.

Swiss Chocolates have been delighting consumers for over two hundred years. Although there are many imitators, a true aficionado can easily discern between the rich taste of authentic Swiss Chocolate and those who try and mimic its flavor.
